APR Presents our 2.0T Tuning Package for the Volkswagen Golf R!

Volkswagen Automotive Group's 2.0T found in the Golf R is the world's premiere 4 cylinder turbocharged engine and APR has developed a line of premiere performance enhancements to compliment VAG's achievement. APR's expertly recalibrated engine management upgrades and professionally engineered OEM replacement performance engine components result in an even more enjoyable, powerful and efficient operation with no loss of life or use. APR's complete line of performance enhancements have been developed for the 2.0T to provide increases of +144 FT-LBS of torque and +131 HP with an APR ECU and Hardware upgrades without modifying the OEM Turbocharger.

APR's Software, Electrical and Mechanical Engineering Teams have built upon years of experience and unmatched accomplishments with VAG's standard 200HP 2.0T FSI engine to develop new breakthroughs in drivability and performance enhancement for the Golf R 2.0T. APR has been able to fully realize the upgrades VAG provided in increased engine durability, efficiency and performance to deliver a tuning program that is the culmination of 9 years of research and development and unparalleled in the performance aftermarket.

rabbitAcceleration Enhancements:
Beyond power and torque enhancements, APR’s Calibration Engineers were able to increase the acceleration rate of the vehicle through other calibrations changes. Ignition delay is reduced resulting in a more responsive pedal without altering overall throttle sensitivity.

vmaxSpeed Limiter:
APR’s ECU upgrade increases the vehicle's top speed limiter for blistering sprints around the track or across the Autobahn without the speed limiter shutting down your fun!

ecoIncreased Fuel Economy:
APR’s Calibration Engineers paid close attention to several parameters directly related to fuel economy, especially while cruising at highway speeds. Depending on your driving style and fuel quality, you may see better miles per gallon!

vmaxMotorsport Rev Limiter:
APR’s Motorsport Rev Limiter allows the engine to reach max RPM without the ECU slowing down acceleration several hundred RPM earlier. The result is more power to redline and a definable redline feeling as seen on Audi Quattro GMBH vehicles such as the RS4, RS5 and R8.

Left Foot BrakingLeft Foot Braking:
APR's Left Foot Braking feature allows more control over the vehicle’s throttle. The factory equipped vehicle's throttle input is disabled while pressing the accelerator and brake at the same time. Left Foot Braking, a common motorsport driving technique, allows the driver complete control over the vehicle’s throttle and braking system, which may give the vehicle the edge it needs at the track. As is with all features APR adds to the ECU, this feature may be removed upon request.

Golf R Stages

APR offers Golf R Software in stages and each stage is specifically designed for your vehicle’s level of modification. At any point in time, APR customers are free to move between Stage I, Stage I+ and Stage II+ software without paying for software again.

Each stage is offered with APR’s Patented EMCS Program Switching and is an OBD-II port flash to the factory ECU. All APR Software is available for 91 (R+M)/2, 93 (R+M)/2, 100 (R+M)/2, 95 RON, 98 RON and 104 RON fuel grades.

APR’s Stage I and I+ upgrades are available with special intake software designed for vehicles running a full high flow intake. Stage II+ is optimized for a full high flow intake. Additionally, APR's Runner Flap Delete (RFD) hardware is supported with specific RFD software at each stage.

APR Stage I
APR’s Stage I ECU Upgrade is designed for vehicles with little to no modification. Expect higher peak numbers of 310 horsepower and 311 ft-lbs of torque, but also gains of up to +57 horsepower and +58 ft-lbs through the power band.

When running the intake specific software with a full high flow intake, more gains can be had. Expect higher peak numbers of 337 horsepower and 309 ft-lbs of torque, but also gains of up to +72 horsepower and +61 ft-lbs through the power band.

APR Stage I+
APR’s Stage I+ ECU Upgrade requires an APR High Pressure Fuel Pump and is designed for vehicles with little to no other modification. Expect higher peak numbers of 337 horsepower and 337 ft-lbs of torque, but also gains of up to +77 horsepower and +81 ft-lbs through the power band when combined with APR's intake specific software and a full high flow intake.

APR Stage II+
APR’s Stage II+ ECU Upgrade requires an APR High Pressure Fuel Pump, at least an APR Downpipe Exhaust System but is optimized for APR’s full RSC Exhaust System and a full high flow intake. Expect higher peak numbers of 362 horsepower and 370 ft-lbs of torque, but also gains of up to +103 horsepower and +111 ft-lbs through the power band with all of these modifications.

APR Stage III

APR EMCS Programs and Features

APR’s patented EMCS, Enhanced Modular Chipping System, brings selectable programs and features to your factory ECU, all without the need to purchase external hardware. There are no adaptation tricks or marketing gimmicks involved - EMCS is unlike anything else in the market. EMCS has the ability to rewrite the operating map data, giving each map new and specific calibration for increased performance. EMCS is available at any APR Stage.

Program SwitchingProgram Switching:
Program switching allows the user to cycle though up to four different engine calibrations and operating modes all without the need for external hardware.

StockStock Mode:
By selecting stock mode, the ECU calibration is reduced to factory load levels, limiting performance.

Valet ModeValet Mode:
APR's Valet Mode protects your vehicle from becoming an expensive toy for unauthorized individuals. By enabling Valet Mode, the vehicle's engine and top speed will be greatly limited.

In some situations, APR supports higher 104 (R+M)/2 octane race fuels at Stage 3 power levels.

APR Mobile

APR Mobile is a simple yet powerful tool designed to enhance the APR tuning experience.

APR Mobile

APR Mobile installs on smart phones, tablets and other devices and provides a wireless connection to the vehicle’s engine control unit or ECU. Once connected, the device can be used to access APR’s EMCS program switching features, read and clear fault codes and data log the ECU at high data rates not found on other commercially available tools. The app can also be used to access APR’s latest news articles, locate dealers in APR’s network and review previously saved data logging sessions.

How to use APR EMCS Programs and Features without APR Mobile

Switching

To Enable EMCS:
Turn the ignition and cruise control on, but don’t start the engine.

To Unlock the ECU:
This is only necessary if Security Lockout is enabled.
Enter your security code to unlock the ECU. “SET” is used to enter a digit and “CANCEL” is used to register a digit. Enter each digit by clicking the “SET” button the number of times corresponding to the digit, then use “CANCEL” to register the digit. Do this for each digit and the CEL and EPC light will flash to indicate the ECU is unlocked. The ECU will remain unlocked unless you lock it again.

To Cycle through APR Programs:
Hold “SET” on the cruise control stalk. The CEL will blink in set of one to four blinks to indicate programs one through four. Release “SET” during this sequence to select a program. Turn off the ignition, turn it back on and wait for the CEL and EPC to stop blinking before starting the engine.

To use Security Lockout to Lock the ECU:
Hold “RESUME” and the CEL will blink in sets of one to three blinks to indicate features one through four. Release “RESUME” when the CEL is flashing in groups of three binks per second. The EPC and CEL will blink to indicate the ECU is locked.

APR ECU ExplorerAPR ECU Explorer:
APR’s proprietary ECU Explorer gives APR’s Calibration Engineers unparalleled access to the vehicle’s entire engine management system. Typical commercially available data logging tools, used by most tuners, only allow logging up to 12 engine-operating variables at extremely low data rates. These tools are also limited to a small, specific list of variables. APR’s ECU Explorer is capable of logging every variable found within the ECU. It’s capable of logging many variables at once with data rates as high as 100 samples per second. Synchronous data logging is available for fine-tuning.

APR ECU ComposerAPR ECU Composer:
APR’s proprietary ECU Composer is used for altering the engine management system. With full access to every table, map and variable within the ECU, APR’s Calibration Engineers are not limited to a handful of maps as is common for most tuning companies. ECU Composer takes calibration to a new level on the 2.0T FSI with APR's Quick Flashing. APR’s Calibration Engineers can reflash the ECU only a minute later rather than waiting 10 to 20 minutes between each flash.

APR ECU AssemblyAPR ECU Assembly:
APR’s Electrical Engineers have the ability to alter the code structure of the ECU to add features not available from the factory. On the highly modified end, this allows APR to make Stage III to operate as if intended by the OEM. For most 2.0T owners, the advantage of this ability is the addition of APR’s patented EMCS Functions. EMCS puts the control of the engine’s operation at your fingertips and allows for additional features and options to be installed to your ECU.
